Is anybody willing and able to help Dexter? 

Dexter's owner has unexpectedly passed on, leaving this gorgeous boy without a home. He is currently staying with his mom's family in Washington State, but they cannot keep him. 

Dexter does not have a re-homing fee, but anybody interested in providing a temporary or permanent home will be screened.

Dexter is current on vaccinations.

Dexter will need a person or family who is experienced with Aussies and has time to spend with him. In his home, he was with his mom 24/7. He went everywhere with her. Because of this, he has severe anxiety when left alone. He was an only dog, with no other pets, people or children, so he has never learned that there are boundaries when playing with others. He has been staying with other dogs, but the family he is with does not have the time or the space that he needs devoted to him, in order to teach him these boundaries. Because he is still intact, he wants to be the "Boss dog" so his play is too aggressive. His current caretakers are looking into having him neutered, so this may or may not happen before his adoption.

Dexter is intelligent and sweet but has not been socialized like he should have been. He needs somebody that has the time and experience to help him adjust during this difficult time. 

Before you ask, we would love to help Dexter, but with him being unknown to our intact males and no place to safely separate him from them, it would be unfair to him and  could compromise his safety. With the time and attention that we give to our other dogs, we just do not have enough left over to fulfil his needs and that would also be very unfair to him. That's why we are going to do whatever it takes to find him a safe place to land.
